..spread the smile and make at-least one person a day smile, I think my day has been fruitful.

I think this has to be one of the most important things that I have learned this year and I try to stick by it.

Sleep...

...in heavenly peace.

After a hectic day of work,
after a tiresome semester,
after driving for days,
hiking across parks and trails,
clicking for minutes and hours,
cooking days and nights.

All the above activities....
is keeping me busy.

and I just feel like sleeping.
I guess some rest is good,
before I start the last semester here.

What is education?

Education should go beyond the normal books knowledge and also impart life skills.

I know I will still stay up late in nights to watch you perform, even if you suck at it and lose the match.

And I know I will shed a tear of joy, every time you win, like I did when you won at Chennai.

If I had studied as much as I did today, I would have definitely got a PhD by now!

Can't wait to get back ...

...to the schools to interact more with these kids..
Unfortunately I still have a few more months to go before that happens!

Till then I find solace in the fact that people in the class were pleased with my presentation on the project.

These days.. I see the shades of color within the blankets of white and grey..
I pause..
I stare at them for a long time...
and then wait for spring.

And it's just the start of winter.
We had the first full fledged snowfall today, which in itself was a beautiful sight.

What is healing?

bruised egos...
a shattered nation...
my mom who underwent an operation recently....
the money plant in my living room which caught a frost bite...
economies of nations...

and many more.

Healing is a process.
A time consuming process.

They were already there on the ground ... and no more on the trees...
today the workers gathered all the leaves that were on the grounds also and took it away.
It felt like as if they were taking an essential part away.
Even though they were all dead leaves, I still felt some connection with it.

I stood there in the cold.. and just watched them being taken away.

I will miss this....

...this color in particular, when I am gone from this place.

...I am always surprised by the amount of coffee that the people in this country drink!

Gone Fishing?

....today for the first time this winter season, the pond in front of my house froze.
I felt happy at the situation as it looked cool.
But suddenly the wind hit my face hard. I realized the harsh reality.
And then I felt sad.
Of the cold days.
The colder nights.
The coldest early mornings.
Today it was -8C when i went to catch the bus.

Driving in Paradise

This one is for the drive through the Hoosier National Forest, Indiana.
One of the best drives I have experienced in my life.

I hate it... but sometimes the routines change.

Watching people in public spaces

...one of my fav passtimes is watching people in public spaces.
They always tell a story!

There is a kid...

...inside each one of us.
Inspite of how old one grows, this kid does not grow.

It should not grow either.

It is that kid, who knows to be creative. Who thinks of the world as his canvas and paints all the possible colors with his imagination.
This kid who is exploratory and is not afraid to fail as he has not tasted success in all things he has tried.
The kid who does not care much about being told what to do, what not to do.
This kid who thinks the world is a playground and having fun is the sole purpose of life.

Classroom

Today someone in the class was complaining about the class not having sufficient power points, as she was unable to put the plug for her laptop to charge.
It reminded me of this picture of a classroom that I had taken sometime back.

Note, the children take their classes standing standing.
In the sun, out in the open.

Point of view

Anything can be good or bad.
A marvel or a trap.
It depends on how you look at it.
