A situation...

Ever been in a situation like this?

To be an Indian.....

....today was a day when the non-Indians got a taste of India.
Indian Shlokas, India mantras, Indian food, Indian Music and Indian dance steps (from Bharatnatyam to disco to breakdance! )

Had a few non Indians wish in Indian languages and also wearing Kurtas !

One of those days when I am super proud of my culture.
Not that the other days I am not proud! Just that today was extra special!

and oh boy... I may be old.. but I can still shake it there on the dance floor! I am proud of myself for that!

At times....

all one needs is
a hug,
some words of comfort,
a smile to be greeted by.

The sorrows just vanish.

Missing India

One of the things that make me miss India is the freedom to click photographs of people.
Its such a strong feeling and at times it just leaves me paralyzed and any shot of a non-people subject does not please the soul as much.

These are no more...

Went around the campus today.
Was sad a bit to see that these beautiful colors were no more. The leaves were all in dull shades of brown.
Many on the ground, making the trees naked, exposing the skeleton.
Just this skeleton to face the harsh winter ahead.

But then its good, as its signs of time progressing.

Explore around...

Before I leave this place, I should get try and explore the places around here.
There are just so many places to go.

Need for Speed..

Today was total Need for speed!
Drove on Interstate for the first time here in the US.
Awesome day of driving!

Poles apart

At times things in life gets so poles apart, and there is so much chaos all around, that we fail to notice the threads that tie them together.

This happens to me so often!

What do I do then?
I sit and reflect of course!

Find those threads again, hold on tightly to them and move on.

Light from the other side...

Often, I have felt entering into a dark patch and feeling the absence of light there! feel unsure and unaware of what to do next.
And in those situations, it often helps to see the other source of light or the direction that it is coming from. It helps in changing the perspective and also helps in making progress.

Maybe this picture will inspire me to move forward on my thesis project.

Love for fall...

It's surprising how I had never noticed this wall .. till I was doing some clicking around in the context of capturing the fall colors.
This wall suddenly seemed aesthetic. The softness of the leaves formed a perfect blend with the hard wall and they seemed so loving to each other. The soul of the leaves clinging to the wall....

Guess the fall eye was letting me appreciate things I would have not noticed otherwise!

Can you not like this?

I have yet to meet a single person who says that they do not like the fall colors.
When I am back in India, one of the things that I am going to miss the most is the lovely fall colors!

Till that happens...I will enjoy and cherish the beauties in nature!

Rural Essence...

Saw a movie based in Bihar today.
I miss Bihar.
I miss my home.

Let the fears evaporate

Today was bliss.
I went out early in the morning ...much before sunrise and witnessed on of the faces of nature that I had been wanting to see since a long long time.

For the economy

...where every penny counts.

Bad state of the US economy.
Dollar almost at Rs 50/$.
Dow Jones at its lowest in 5 years!

Hope there is a revival soon.

Expressions in Nature

Have you ever tried to find expressions in nature?
I do that all the time I go out in the open to shoot.

Today was nice.. I clicked fall colors again ....
For the past few days .. I have been having this divine connection with nature.
I just feel like going out there and being there for hours..

To Henri...

I bow to thee.
There is something in portraits that makes it so special.
There is an undefined connection between the subjects.
There is an aura surrounding them that cannot be defined, but just felt.

I owe my style to thee...

It made me smile...

A lot of readings, to give the feeling of studying.

A desire refurbishes

...a desire to study more.
Some new thoughts play hide and seek.
What it does not realize is that it is actually adding to the already chaotic mind that I have currently.

Feeling Lost....

a burden of something..
anxiety..
emotions..
panic..

Seem to be struck with this plethora of expressions..

A Feeling

of blankness...
just staring into the horizon...
thinking about nothing...
no thoughts..
absolutely vacuum..

Today I felt like this for a while.

Was it good? Was it Bad?
I don't know. Just felt indifferent.

अभिलाषा

अकेला कदम , दो कदम
ढूँढा पत्थर में परछाई
दूरी हुई कभी नहीं कम,
कभी थी सिर्फ़ तन्हाई .

मिली तो थी साथी,
न जाने कहाँ पीछे छूट गई
शायद पुकारी भी थी
एहसास ही नही हुआ.

रफ़्तार काफ़ी बढ़ गई
मानो अपनी गाड़ी में सवार
भागा चला जा रहा
किसी अनजान मंजिल की ओर.

थमा क्षण भर के लिए,
मधुशाला में मदिरापान की इच्छा,
खाने लगी किसी की याद
वापिस पुष्प को छूने की अभिलाषा.

क्षितिज पर अपनी लालिमा,
छोड़ते हुए डूबता सूरज को देखा,
सुशील चंद्रमा को इशारा करते देखा,
नखरीली अदाएं बिखेरने को तैयार देखा.

संध्या अपने जवानी पर
रात्रि कभी लगे करीब , कभी दूर इतना
शायद मंजिल पर होगा सवेरा,
शायद मिलेगा कोई नया नज़ारा.
